Hello everyone, it is a pleasure to greet you all.

I am Park Wan-soo, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations on the opening of the 19th YISUNSIN CUP International Yacht Race, held in Tongyeong, a beautiful city renowned for marine tourism and leisure.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mayor Chun Yeong-gee of Tongyeong, Chairman Jung Won-joo of the Gyeongnam Sailing Federation, and all members of the organizing committee for their dedicated efforts in preparing this event. My heartfelt thanks also go to the volunteers who are working tirelessly on-site to ensure the smooth operation of the race. Furthermore, I warmly welcome the more than 400 athletes and officials from 10 countries who have come to Gyeongnam to participate in this international celebration of sailing.

The YISUNSIN CUP International Yacht Race is more than just a marine sports event—it is a meaningful occasion that shares the spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and the excellence of Korea’s maritime culture with the world.

Over the past 18 years, this event has steadily grown and is now recognized as one of the most prestigious international yacht races in Asia. With its elevated status and the participation of many skilled athletes, we sincerely hope the race will conclude safely, fairly, and successfully.

To all participating athletes, I hope you will demonstrate your full potential throughout the race, and during your stay in Gyeongsangnam-do, may you enjoy its breathtaking nature and rich cultural heritage while creating unforgettable memories.

Gyeongsangnam-do is making continuous efforts to develop the southern coast into a world-class destination for marine leisure and tourism. We will do our utmost to become a place you’ll want to return to—a true landmark of ocean tourism—so that we may welcome you again to these inspiring waters.
