Yacht athletes and distinguished executives, greetings!

I am Park Wan-soo, the Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do or South Gyeongsang Province. We have gathered in the maritime city of Tongyeong, where the patriotic spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin thrives, for the 17th Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race. I extend my most sincere welcome to the over 400 athletes and executives from both domestic and international origins, representing eight countries, who have graced us with their presence as they have chosen to visit Gyeongnam.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the committee members, including Mayor Cheon Young-gee of Tongyeong and Chairman Lee Sang-seok of the Gyeongsangnam-do Sailing Federation, who have dedicated their efforts to prepare for this event. I also extend my thanks to those who have been instrumental in making this competition possible, including Minister Yu In-chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Congressman Jeong Jeom-sig, Chairman Park Bum-kyu of the Korea Sailing Federation, and Chief Joo Yong-hyun of the Tongyeong Maritime Police Station.

The Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race has seen the participation of exceptional athletes from around the world, playing a crucial role in international exchange and contributing to the economic development of the local community. Over the years, this race has firmly established itself as a premier maritime sporting event representing the Republic of Korea.

To all of you who love the sea and yachts!
Gyeongnam Province is making every effort to transform its blessed coastal resources along the South Sea into a globally renowned marine tourism hub. In February, here in Tongyeong, we took a significant step towards this goal by signing agreements with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Busan, and Jeollanam-do to become a leading hub for Northeast Asian marine tourism. We humbly request your continued interest and support to help the South Sea coast solidify its position as a global hub for marine leisure tourism.

We hope that your time here, amid the excitement of the yacht races, will be a cherished moment to savor the spectacle of yachting. We also encourage you to harness the South Sea's gentle waves and winds to showcase the skills you have honed over the years to the fullest.
